Edukasi

Since today is the first day to go back to school, I intend to write a bit of my wandering experience about 'being educated'.
Sometimes, I'm a little sad to see people who still has tenet 'studying to get good grades' until now.
I agree with that but the 'ending' of that tenet is WRONG (in my opinion).
An insignificant sample, there are two children named Ani and Budi. In two days they will face daily exam of physics about static electricity. They are both an ambitious child but have different ways of studying.
- Ani has a commitment 'I study because I want to understand the subjects. I study because I want to gain more knowledge and to understand the concept of subjects'.
- Budi has a commitment 'I study because I want to not get in touch with remedial session. I study because I want to get first rank possion in class'.
By both samples above, we already know their intentions and goals are different, as well as during the learning process totally different.
Ani study because she wants to gain more knowledge and wants to understand the concept of subject, not just memorize it. After she understands the concept, she will practice to doing the exercise questions. Starting from the easiest questions until a difficult questions, from daily test questions to the international olympic's questions. During the process of doing the exercise question if she is still wrong to answer the questions or her ways are not correct, she will practice again and again. It is because her goals to gain more knowledge. Therefore, on the 'battlefield' later and if she gets bad result is doesn't matter anyway because she already gain more knowledge. For her, the concept of subjects or knowledge is more important than just numbers in a piece of paper.
Now, let see the learning process of Budi, which have a purpose to get first rank in their class.
Certainly, he will study, read books, do the exercise questions too and leave it. Afterwards, he will try to find a 'link' to his friends who have faced the exam first.
'Hi, guys. How was the physics test today? What's questions are being tested?'
'It was randomly seated?'
'Is there are any disseverance?'
'Oh so its the A's group on the right.'
'What! The questions of A's group is harder than B's group.'
'How many questions are being tested?'
After feeling satisfy and happy since had 'intake' from their friends, Budi studying again but the material that will test only.
When the day of battle begins, the questions are tested differently. Budi who initially felt safe and confident will get good grades, totally changed. Another case with Ani, she doing the physics test easily.
From that incident, we already know the results of physics test which are 'more pleasing to our eyes' clearly.
The conclusion is (absolutely) the intention of studying to get good grades or to achieve the first rank is imprecise. If we have goals like that, I advise you to not take extra tutoring that can spend millions of money. It has no effect!
Preferably, the money that used to pay the extra tutoring is saved to buy 'trusted answer key'. You achieve the first rank without do more extra study. You get perfect scores and your money is saved.
From this case, I advise you to changed our study system from now, such as the intention, goals and the process. 'I study because I want to be the knowledgeable person'. Therefore, if we get bad score or unexpected results of the test. It doesn't matter. We had gain knowledge and understand the concept of subjects. Good score or top ten rank in class is bonus. If we don't get it is nothing or if we get it is our pleasure.
But the problem is we live in a country whereas (maybe) value is more appreciated than honesty until now. Values or rangking in class are considered much more important than the 'passion' of the child.
Particularly (possible) for high school students who are wrong lines or children who become victims because she/he always being compared with others because not get top ten rank in class.
Well.
We, all students are required to 'escape' of minimal's score to all the subjects that totalling about thirteen.
No matter we understand or not. No matter we capable or not. We must be obliged to 'escape' from minimal's score in thirteen subjects, such as Math, Chemistry, Physics, History, and etc.
The facts say that everyone has different limits, skills and abilities.
I'm here also totally can't blame the educator. It is because sometimes the student was lazy to ask more detail, lazy to ask for re-explanation. But later if they get bad score, they will blamed the educator who incapable in teaching or with the reason 'passion'.
Obviously, there are many educational problems that must be investigated. For instance, the subjects that like 'stepmother', national exam, curriculum system, the educator, inequality of education facilities and many more.
'It is not the educator or the student being accused. However, let see our education system. Millions of students, with different passion and different ability can be 'beaten flat' from Sabang to Merauke with only one system. I hope no more rat experiments become the victims of continuous system updates.'
Best regard,
Si Amatir
